I’m recounting the movie called Sky High. A film released in 2005 portraying a married couple who are the worlds super heroes. The Commander (Kurt Russel) and Jetstream (Kelly Preston).
Maybe some of you remember seeing it.
I know this may seem strange, but bare with me, there is a point to my madness.
It was based on their child, Will, coming of age starting at Sky High Academy which was located on a meteor hovering above earth. Will and his friends, also having super human powers, were picked up by a normal school bus that just happened to fly.
With the exception of being able to save earths inhabitants from destruction using their super powers, each person in the movie was depicted as living a normal life here on earth. The Commander had super strength. Jetstream was able to fly. All of Will’s friends had interesting powers as well. As for Will, he was a bit embarrassed because he seemed to be normal. He had no powers and was keeping this from his parents.
After reporting to school, Will and his friends were judged where they would be placed within the school curriculum based on their powers.
Will and all of his friends were deemed to have less than the qualities needed to be heroes, and were placed in a class called hero support. They’re abilities were judged to be insufficient for super hero status, therefore they would go on to be trained to support the heroes. Will, seemed to be just fine being placed in hero support. After all, he was with all of his friends. All of this was unbeknownst to his parents. However, they eventually found out their son had no known powers and his father, The Commander, was very upset. His mother, Jetstream, took it in stride reminding The Commander that their son would come into his powers eventually.
Fast forward, Will did come into his powers while dealing with childhood jealousy and was able to demonstrate them fully. These actions however, led to him being taken out of hero support class away from his friends and put into the hero class. With this action came resentment and envy from his friends and melancholy for Will.
His friends began to feel smaller in comparison to the attention Will was gaining. They undermined their own powers as did the other heroes. They eventually stayed away from Will and the other heroes. They did however, continue to cheer them on when the heroes were made to play games to develop their super hero powers even further.
What ended up happening was a villain (Royal Pain), disguised as a student, took over the school capturing The Commander and Jetstream along with everyone else there, with the exception of Will and his hero support friends. The school started to fall from the sky. Will jumped into action using his super human strength and flying abilities to save it from falling onto the people below. But, he could only do one thing at a time. Meanwhile, as he was preoccupied with saving the school, his friends, (hero support) set out to save all the people that were being harmed at the academy. In the end, they showed they were very capable of defeating the evil Royal Pain and all of her helpers using their powers.
All was fine. Will saved the school from crashing into earth. The kids who were considered hero support saved the people that were being taken over, and all of them together defeated Royal Pain once and for all. The End..
Of course this is a metaphor to what happens with Mother Earth’s animals. All animals are very highly regarded in Shaman concepts. Although, most people only consider a few of them as super heroes.
When I post about a rabbit, I don’t get much response, after all it’s just a rabbit. What kind of power can a bunny possess to help a human being with their struggles anyhow? If I post about the horse, we now have a lot of attention paid to it, after all it’s a big beautiful animal which looks to possess a lot of power. However, looks can be deceiving. Although the horse does have super human strength, all of gods creatures are here to help us.
I teach a class called Intro to Shamanism, in which I lead the participants into a journey to find their power animal(s) they’re working with. I find it hard to get people, other than those that have power animals such as the Eagle, Wolf, Bear, or Elephant,to tell the group who they have. One woman was a bit embarrassed to be receiving guidance from the mouse. She wanted it to be the Eagle like another person in the class. However, we are not in charge of who is working with us. This is based on our needs at the time. Where we find ourselves in life. And what our personality and passions are.
In shaman concepts Eagle, is considered The Commander. Wolf would be Jetstream. Bear would be in their class and so would the Elephant and the Horse.
Don’t get stuck on the fact that Eagle can fly so therefore it would be Jetstream and the wolf being grounded would or should be The Commander.
In fact, Eagle is our nations mascot for a reason. Eagles list to help us is immense!
In fact, when Eagle shows up, it’s to show you your connection to spirit is very strong. It’s time for you to listen to and heed your spiritual path. To detach and rise above the mundane.
Eagle is about strength and courage, wisdom, insight, healing, and creation. It’s about your ability to see your hidden truths. Showing you that you have great power and strength. You can indeed see the big picture if you take the time to be silent, still, and observe.
Eagle shows great creativity. We all have it. It’s not just for some as many people previously thought. It’s time to rise above, to heed the guidance you need in order to tap into it.
Eagle is very strong! Considered the leader of the power animals.
When Eagle shows up in your life it’s a clear reminder that no matter what you put out positive or negative it will now return to you in some form more quickly than ever. So, my advice to you at this point, is to look at your thoughts, and your emotional attachment to those thoughts. If there’s emotional conflict going on between them change it quickly. You may think you want a new vehicle, but if your emotional attachment leads you to think you can’t afford it–you’ll never acquire a new vehicle. I call this having apples to apples. You need to believe you can afford it and want it at the same time.
A good first step, if you find yourself with oranges and apples to any thought, is to sit down and write out everything you’re feelings (judgements) and your thoughts to acquiring what you’d like. Make them match on paper. Then continue to look at what you’ve written and make yourself begin to feel what it would be like to have obtained the aspect you’re working on every day. The more you can feel it, as well as think it, the more likely you will succeed in actually bringing your physical to obtaining it.
Eagle also reminds us to respect the boundaries of the nation. This means do not judge other people for their actions or events that may be taking place. Stay true to what you would like to see. Send love and light to anything that may need healing, along with keeping your emotional thoughts of what is happening the way you’d like to see it. And most important, let be what is.
You will see…Eagle can help change any situation as long as you call on her to help. 🙂
As in Will’s case, when the eagle is at work and busy, there are plenty of animals that are normally considered hero support ready to step up and help you out. All of the earths creatures possess super hero qualities. Even if they happen to be a cuddly cute bunny.
When Rabbit shows up it’s time to go for your dreams. Do not hesitate. Leap to them as fast as you can. Rabbit can change directions in an instant, helping you maneuver through anything to get to your dreams.
Do not underestimate the size of the mouse. He may be small, but he is mighty. After all there was even a cartoon based on how mighty this little guy is. When Mouse shows up, you may be too busy to see all the signs that are right before your eyes. Remember, to obtain the big things in life, you need to stay focused on the smaller aspects, staying connected in the moment, in order to realize your goals.
Blue Jay reminds us about communication. Never to use your words to hurt others. Also, clear communication is a must in our society as we see it today, allowing for anything to be accomplished as you’d like it.
Squirrels remind us to gift and receive. We can’t always give everything away. It leaves us as an empty shell or what I like to term as a Raggedy Ann doll. Giving everything away leaves no bone structure to hold ourselves up anymore. You need to be able to receive too, in order to keep a healthy balance.
All in all, no matter what or who may be around you, no matter what anything looks like, everything is a part of the universe we live in. Subsequently adding value to our lives each and every day. Taking advantage of anything that comes your way, in the end result, can only help.
No matter what it may look like on the surface.
